The Kiln Decides: Yao Bian Glaze

No two firings are alike. In the kiln-transform (yao bian) glaze, flame temperature, airflow, and the position of each vessel conspire to paint patterns no hand could plan — copper red bleeding into moonlight blue, streaks of green flame running down the shoulder of a vase.

The potter shapes the clay; the kiln writes the final line. That is why every yao bian piece is, by nature, one of a kind.
