Liuli: Light, Frozen

Liuli — Chinese crystal glass cast by the lost-wax method. A wax model is encased in plaster, burned out, and replaced by molten glass cooled over weeks, so slowly that light settles inside it.

The bubbles and flow lines are not flaws; they are the breath of the process, frozen mid-sigh.
